Matt Lockwood
Director of Grants
Matt Lockwood serves as Director of Grants at The COMMIT Foundation, bringing more than 15 years of experience in the veteran nonprofit sector. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to advancing opportunities for service members, veterans, and military families, helping mission-driven organizations secure the resources needed to create lasting impact. At COMMIT, Matt leads strategic grant development efforts, working closely with foundation and institutional partners to ensure investments align with programs that empower veterans to pursue purpose, build community, and thrive in their post-military lives.
Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Matt earned his degree in Government and International Politics from George Mason University. His passion for service and philanthropy was shaped early in his career while working on the John McCain presidential campaign in 2008, an experience that deepened his respect for military service and strengthened his commitment to supporting those who serve.
Matt is passionate about storytelling that honors the caliber, talent, and potential of veterans and military families. He believes strategic philanthropy can strengthen trust, expand opportunity, and fuel meaningful transitions nationwide.
Outside of work, Matt is an avid fan of the Utah Jazz and the Washington Nationals and enjoys following both teams closely throughout their seasons.
